I have a 72 yomale with Bipolar Disoder type I and residual expressive aphasia from a carotid artery induced stroke about 5 yrs ago. At time of stroke there was mild R hemiparesis that resolved. He's been getting manic again and is breaking through Risperdal and VPA. I changed it to Ativan and Geodon 80mg with partial help but left arm and leg akathisia have developed. Has anyone seen this lateralizing effect? You'd think the paretic side may be more vulnerable (or is it protected?).
